Matthew Vollgraff is a Senior Research Fellow in the History of Art at the University of California, Berkeley. He is the author of The Imperial Childhood of World Art (Bard Graduate Center, 2026) and The Science of Expression: Gesture and Knowledge in German Modernity (Zone Books, forthcoming).
